Before you finalize your decision about hiring a professional makeup artist, you are encouraged to do a trial or demo makeup appointment with him/her. This is for you to have a preview of what you will look like, if you like it then you hire her but if not, you can go for another expert makeup artist. I recommend that when deciding on who to choose for your demo, have at least three options. Most professional artist charge a fee for a  makeup demo, the money you will pay is insignificant compared with the peace of mind knowing that you have a makeup artist that you love. A plus of course is that you are able to connect with them and sample their work first hand before making a final decision.

During a demo, the artist will determine the nature of your face and personality in order to know how bold or soft your makeup should be. Hire Someone Whose Work You Love 
It is important that you hire someone whose work you love. Make sure their portfolio is more than impressive to you.  Don’t hire someone simply for the sake of the cost. Check the reviews of their past clients on their personal websites, their Facebook fan page, Twitter or wedding blogs. You can even ask for references; ask for the names, phone numbers and emails of their former clients and make your direct personal findings about how each client liked the job of the makeup artist. Book the Service Your Desired Makeup Artist at The Right Time
Most professional makeup artists always have busy schedule.  So, if you are in love  with the work and want to hire her/him, then do so as early as possible, if you delay you risk finding out it is too late and  they have been hired by somebody else whose wedding day is the same as yours. Don’t be left out!

Have Your Budget
This is very important. Wedding  makeup artist starts at about  $150 dollars and can grow from there. Just like it is advisable for you to have a budget plan for every other aspect of the wedding, we do recommend you have a budget for your makeup artist.  Consider details such as, make up cost for bridesmaids, mother of the bride – etc.  Also, if you are considering asking the artist to stay with you throughout the day and evening into the reception  know that there can be a cost associated with this.
